Artist statement

My work is to be found on the borderline between fiction and reality, with a surreal approach, presented in a figurative language.
Based on a personal experience of the present and its surroundings, the work often reflects a reinvention of a story, where I aim to capture the tension between an external reality and an inner experience of the world.
For the viewer I am interested in creating a particular sphere for him/her to enter, so the installation works as frozen images of a story, and the viewer has the opportunity to complete the story with his/her own imagination.
Rather than showing reality as it is, I want to create a fictitious place through my installations; where things converge and you get the feeling that time is repealed. I enjoy playing on contradictions, and to explore the boundaries between what is uncomfortable and appealing at the same time. The topics range from the intimate and interpersonal, to the more socio-political. It is however more about indicating a way to understand a story, rather than to reveal answers.
